Finley's Touch officially launched on Finley's 9th birthday, 7th July 2022. We initially started supporting children in selected wards of Great Ormond Street Hospital in London and The Royal Alexandra in Brighton. Since then, we have expanded to all paediatric oncology units across South East England, covering Surrey, Sussex, and Kent.
Having a seriously ill child in hospital is very hard on the body, the mind and the budget. We aim to help make all of these struggles a little bit easier...
The Mission Statement of Finley's Touch is:
To Spread Fun, Hope and Happiness.
See more below.
As our charity grows, we hope to expand the area in which we can help children and their families. We are sorry that we can't help everyone in the UK yet, but who knows how big we can get? We have had so much support from so many wonderful people that there really is no limit to how far we can go!
Finley Relf
Supportive Cash Grants
There's no financial support for families with children who have cancer. It was incredibly difficult to maintain our jobs during Finley's two years in the hospital, but we managed to get through it. However, we met other parents whose businesses had failed, or who had to sell their homes. Our grants of £500 for each year of treatment offer a bit of relief.
Having a child with cancer limits the sort of fun you can have. Being 'immuno-compromised' means you might not be able to go to crowded places like cinemas, soft play areas, or leisure centres. In 2024, we started issuing National Trust Family Memberships, which are proving to be a great way to explore the great outdoors, have fun, learn new things, and get some exercise.
Hospital Survival Bags
Packed with fun and creative activities, our bags provide much-needed laughs as soon as they are opened! We challenge you to find any situation that can't be brightened up by a honking rubber chicken!
